✏KAMA The Story of the Kama Sutra Book Summary : 'Who was Vatsyayana? What motivated this intriguing personality in the third century to compile ancient erotic texts, replete with his witty aphorisms, into the Kama Sutra, the ultimate treatise on love and the art of lovemaking? Kama is a fictionalised account of the life and times of Vatsyayana. Seemingly, a manual for the hedonist about town, the Kama Sutra reveals another tale—written in blood—of broken hearts, lyrical violence, ageless love, and unbridled lust! Set in 273 AD, in a land fraught with war and unrest, Kama is the story of a catastrophic day in a writer-artist’s life that sets him off on a journey unto himself, beyond the boundaries of love, family and betrayal. This fast-paced story of tragedy and triumph beguiles and captivates as it flits seamlessly between an agonising past, an erotic present and a cataclysmic future.'

✏The Kama Sutra Book Summary : The most widely known English translation of the Kama Sutra was privately printed in 1883. It is usually attributed to renowned orientalist and author Sir Richard Francis Burton, but the chief work was done by the Indian archaeologist Bhagwan Lal Indraji, under the guidance of Burton's friend, the Indian civil servant Forster Fitzgerald Arbuthnot, and with the assistance of a student, Shivaram Parshuram Bhide.[18] Burton acted as publisher, while also furnishing the edition with footnotes whose tone ranges from the jocular to the scholarly. Burton says the following in its introduction:

✏The Kama Sutra of Vatsyayana Book Summary : The Kama Sutra is an ancient Indian Hindu text widely considered to be the standard work on human sexual behavior in Sanskrit literature written by Vatsyayana. A portion of the work consists of practical advice on sexual intercourse. It is largely in prose, with many inserted anustubh poetry verses. 'Kama' which is one of the four goals of Hindu life, means desire including sexual desire the latter being the subject of the textbook, and 'sutra' literally means a thread or line that holds things together, and more metaphorically refers to an aphorism (or line, rule, formula), or a collection of such aphorisms in the form of a manual. Contrary to popular perception, especially in the western world, Kama sutra is not exclusively a sex manual; it presents itself as a guide to a virtuous and gracious living that discusses the nature of love, family life and other aspects pertaining to pleasure oriented faculties of human life. Kama Sutra, in parts of the world, is presumed or depicted as a synonym for creative sexual positions; in reality, only 20% of Kama Sutra is about sexual positions. Schneider bautabellen fur ingenieure pdf. The majority of the book, notes Jacob Levy, is about the philosophy and theory of love, what triggers desire, what sustains it, how and when it is good or bad. The Kama Sutra is the oldest and most notable of a group of texts known generically as Kama Shastra Historians attribute Kamasutra to be composed between 400 BCE and 200 CE. John Keay says that the Kama Sutra is a compendium that was collected into its present form in the 2nd century CE Includes unique illustrations!

✏Kama Sutra Book Summary : 'Modest, caring for each other, when a couple thus carry on, their mutual love will never fade' The word 'kama' means the desire, especially for sensual pleasure, in Sanskrit. Its proper pursuit was considered an essential part of the well-rounded education of a young patrician. Treating enjoyment as an art, Kama Sutra is a handbook covering every aspect of love, sex, the social life and relationships, from increasing virility to seducing a new partner. It also gives a fascinating insight into the pampered world of the Indian elite nearly two thousand years ago. This acclaimed new translation takes the Kama Sutra away from its familiar image of an erotic Oriental curiosity, and reveals it as a pithy and wry account of human behaviour. A. N. D. Haksar's introduction discusses the work's origins, authorship and influence, and this edition also contains extensive notes and a bibliography. 'The Kama Sutra may be an ancient Sanskrit text, but this translation still shows that it is still of great value . . . the new version uses a clean, intelligent and intelligible updated English' Jeanette Winterson 'A fine new translation . . . arch, comical and amazing' Hanif Kureishi Translated and with an introduction by A.
